One Looming Cybersecurity Risk – No Cybersecurity Staff

Sure, you want to hire experienced IT staff.......but what if there aren't any?

I've focused on security in my blog posts over the last year for three reasons:

  1. Too many SMBs ignore security or think they've got it covered
  2. That's a REALLY bad idea, so I've attempted to shine a light on an issue that should concern every single business owner in this country (actually, every country).
  3. Every SMB owner needs to understand the basics of data security

One of the issues that I've learned more about in the last year is just how big the gap is between the need for cybersecurity expertise and the availability of that expertise.

Truth in advertising, that's a good thing for our business. As a company, we have the critical mass to ensure the necessary IT experts – including cybersecurity experts – on hand for our IT managed services offerings.

It will become harder for businesses – especially small businesses – to hire and retain cybersecurity expertise.

I wrote about this recently, Having a Hard Time Finding Good IT Staff? It's Not Just You.

But reading stats and tables and figures and dire warnings does become repetitive.

I stumbled across the image below last week. It's eye-opening.

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. I think this infographic paints a not-very-pretty picture of the cybersecurity skills crisis.

Enjoy (and then give us – or at least someone – a call, 855-448-4247, if you're concerned about your SMB's information security).
